Wynter started her career by traveling the world for an entire year performing in Up With People the year before she went to college. By the time she was through, she had performed in approximately 148 shows, visited 7 countries, traveled on two continents and visited 3 Canadian provinces (If you’ve never been to Banff or spent Christmas in Switzerland, she highly recommends it.).
Her thirst for travel hadn’t quite been quenched, so the summer before she went to undergrad, she got a job singing at Duinrell Waterpark in Wassenaar, a municipality in The Netherlands. She went directly from there to Philadelphia where she spent 4 years acting, singing and dancing at the University of the Arts, ultimately receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with honors in Musical Theater.
After college, she went back home to Chicago, where she did a lot of live theater and commercials. She worked with such illustrious theater companies as Porchlight Music Theatre, MPAACT and Victory Gardens. She also had the opportunity to do commercials, appearing for brands such as Meijers and State Farm.
After moving to LA, she was drawn to stand up because it felt like a natural evolution as an artist to tell her own story through comedy; once she got her first laugh, she was hooked. She’s done stand up at venues all over LA, including Dynasty Typewriter, The World Famous Comedy Store, the Hollywood Improv and Flappers. Her festival appearances include the L.A. Diversity in Comedy Festival presented by Second City, the Laugh Riot Grrrl Comedy Festival, the Tucson Comedy Arts Festival, the Women in Comedy Festival in Boston, the Mutiny Radio Comedy Festival in San Francisco, the Lysistrata Comedy Festival in Austin, TX, the Lady Laughs Comedy Festival in Wisconsin and the Ladies Room Comedy Festival in New York. She has shared the stage with such comedy greats as Tracey Ashley, Laurie Kilmartin, Janelle James, Zach Galifianakis, Jackie Fabulous, Whitney Cummings, Brian Kiley, Paul Reiser and Jay Leno (he even said she’s funny!!). In the wake of COVID-19, instead of making her 3rd appearance (3RD!!!) at the Women in Comedy Festival in Boston, she has been seen in online shows on so many platforms (Zoom, Twitch, Zucasa, RushTix, you name it.). During quarantine, she wrote for Jackie Kashian’s episode of Your Late Night Show Tonight, which livestreamed on RushTix. Now that she’s fully vaccinated and boosted, she is cautiously and carefully returning to live comedy. She was so excited to feature for Maria Bamford at the Tacoma Comedy Club in Tacoma, WA and Jackie Kashian at The Laughing Tap in Milwaukee, WI. Wynter is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors Equity Association. (Headshot: Kechi Chibueze, Happy Black Chick Photography )
